Last week’s 2012 IHA Summer Leadership Forum featured presentations from Carl Hammerschlag and Scott Wordelman, two speakers who exemplify the groundbreaking ‘healing community’ concept for health care. This premise focuses on the hospital reaching out into their local communities and establishing themselves as centers of preventive medicine as opposed to the traditional interventional paradigm.

In the second of a two-part Health Pulse podcast, IHA sat down with Scott Wordelman, CEO of Fairview Red Wing Health Services in southeastern Minnesota.  Under Wordelman’s leadership, and with consultation and encouragement from Dr. Hammerschlag, Red Wing has become a shining example of an effective community-wide preventive health program.
