Several weeks ago IHA hosted a board meeting in our offices for the Iowa Organization of Nurse Leaders. While they were in the building, we talked with a few nurse leaders about why they love their work and what advice they had for others interested in the nursing profession.
Watch the video below to see what these leaders had to say

Nice job.
Nice video. I have to echo Colleen. I celebrate 25 years in my nursing career this week. I’ve always been grateful I chose nursing and can’t imagine myself without nursing. I come home on almost a daily basis with feelings of joy and pride because of the accomplishments patients, their families, and the healthcare team have made working together. I can’t imagine any other career that would offer that kind of joyful rewards for that many years. Perhaps the best part about nursing is that no matter what the circumstances, there is ALWAYS something your can do for your patient and their family … ALWAYS. All you have to do is care.
Jackie, Congratulations on your 25th year as a nurse. There is no other career in the world that will let you touch lives and make a difference like nursing. Thank you for caring and for being a nurse.
This video was very well done. Great to see other Iowa Nurses celebrating nursing. I myself have been a nurse for 32 years and have experienced the wealth of opportunity for professional growth in a wonderful, caring career.
